How good would it feel to have that perfect fitting pair of trousers? In this workshop, Alison Leese, expert seamstress and owner of Ministry of Craft, will guide you through creating a trouser block (the essential tool for making your own patterns), which is tailored to your body shape.
Use flat pattern cutting and your own body measurements to draft an initial trouser block, examining waist and hip measurements, dart size and position and crotch shaping. After sewing a toile in calico fabric, you’ll learn how to adjust it to achieve a perfect fit. Then, transfer all your adjustments to your personalised trouser block.
By the end of the workshop, not only will you have a well-fitted trouser block, but an understanding of how to apply relevant adjustments to other sewing patterns and how to adapt your trouser block by adding styling details like volume or waistband to complete a pattern including seam allowances and all the necessary markings.
Consider attending this workshop before our CAPRI TROUSERS workshop to achieve a perfect fit.
Please note the trouser pattern you will make is a women’s draft, if you would like to make a man’s draft please contact us.

As this is not a beginner’s workshop, you must already have some experience on a sewing machine or have attended one of our Beginner sewing workshops.
All materials and equipment are supplied for this workshop and are included in the price.
Wearing a pair of trousers or a skirt rather than a dress will make it easier to try on the calico toile (which will finish around the knee) to check the fit.
Tea and coffee will be available at the workshop and you are welcome to bring along your own refreshments. There will be a break to eat, so please bring along some lunch or you can pop out to a local shop.
Our sponsors, Janome, supply computerised sewing machines (5060 QDC) and where required overlockers (6234XL). Unfortunately, it is not possible to bring along your own machines.
