Sewing Patterns Decoded

£30.00

Are you baffled by sewing patterns? Unsure how to choose the right one, measure accurately, or decipher the cryptic markings on the pattern envelope? Fear not! In this Sewing Patterns Decoded Workshop, Alison Leese, expert seamstress and owner of Ministry of Craft, will unravel the mysteries of sewing patterns.

Get tips for selecting the appropriate pattern size and learn how to take body measurements to establish your bust, waist, hips, and other measurements. Calculate fabric requirements, understand directional prints, differentiate between woven and stretch fabrics, and consider various fabric widths and drapes.

Next, get practical by laying out pattern pieces on fabric. Identify key symbols such as grainlines, notches, and seam allowances, and learn how to pin, position, measure, and transfer markings. Explore basic pattern alterations to shorten, lengthen, reduce or increase a pattern for a perfect fit.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll have all the skills and know-how you need to feel completely at ease with commercial sewing patterns, and your pattern fears will be banished!
