Now you’re confident on your sewing machine, it’s time to tackle sewing patterns head on…
If you’re wondering which pattern to choose, struggling to take accurate measurements or simply can’t make head or tail of the pattern envelope or markings, we’ll ‘decode’ all of these things and more.
Start by understanding the ‘jargon’ used within a sewing pattern. Learn how to take body measurements to establish your pattern size and calculate fabric requirements. Then get practical by laying out a pattern piece and learn to pin, measure and transfer markings, as well as the basics of shortening, lengthening, enlarging and reducing pattern.
You’ll come away with all of the skills and know how you need to feel totally at home with commercial sewing patterns and we promise we’ll banish your pattern fears!
This workshop is suitable for complete beginners or for those looking to refresh their skills.
Make a day of it and book on DRESSMAKING IN A DAY and we will also teach you the practical skills to make either a raglan sleeve top, pyjama bottoms, a girls dress or a wrap around skirt.
