Choose from one of the styles below or from our Dressmaking category in your own choice of fabric (see 'Additional Information' for fabric requirements) and master essential dressmaking techniques as well as using one of our Janome overlockers for a professional finish to raw edges.
Wiggle Dress
Free your inner bombshell and sew this seriously sexy wiggle dress to flatter your womanly curves. Make either a sleeveless style or one with a flattering mid-length sleeve and choose your own dress length. Sew double point darts, insert inset sleeves or add a sleeve facing, add a neck facing and insert an invisible.
Tiered Dress / Top
Sew a tiered dress or top that can be paired with a heel or slide or styled for everyday with a classic trainer. Easy to slip on with raglan sleeves, sew gathers and create a sneaky channel to draw the neckline in with a tie. It can be made in various dress or top lengths with one or two gathered tiers and short or long sleeved.
Wrap Dress
Comfortable to wear with batwing sleeves and flattering wrap top, it can be made in various skirt lengths creating both elegant and casual silhouettes to dress up or down with heels or trainers. Sew tucks and pleats and create a waistband with extended belt to finish the dress off with a tie.
Fit n Flare Dress
The cutest dress on the block could be sewn up in retro cotton as a sweet and wearable day dress or made from something special to become a fiercely flirty occasion dress. Designed to flatter whilst giving a little more movement with a pleated skirt. You decide how long or short you make the length and choose either a sleeveless style or one with a flattering mid-length sleeve. Sew darts, insert inset sleeves or add a sleeve facing, add a neck facing and insert an invisible.
As both the Wiggle and Fit N Flare dresses are close fitting, please contact us with your bust circumference in cm’s as a full bust adjustment to the pattern may be needed. INTRODUCTION TO BODICE FITTING is the ideal workshop to attend prior to making the Wiggle or Fit n Flare Dress if you are bigger than a C-Cup so you can draft a bodice then bring it along to use.
As this is not a beginner’s workshop, you must already have some experience on a sewing machine or have attended one of our Beginner sewing workshops.
Based at a Home Studio in Chorlton with a maximum class size of five, if you have any week-day availability to attend please get in touch to arrange a date.

You will need to bring the following to the workshop:
Wiggle Dress
1.5m of 150cm wide fabric or 2m of 115cm wide fabric.
Please avoid bulky or slippery fabrics; medium weight woven cotton is ideal or a fabric with a small amount of stretch to it (e.g. cotton with elastane), to give you more ease.
A 56cm (22") concealed/invisible zip (be careful not to pick up a standard zip).
20cm of fusible interfacing.
Matching sewing thread.
Tier Dress
For a more structured everyday shape examples are woven poplin, linen or chambray or go for a lighter woven cotton voile, lawn or rayon for a swishier look (anything too slippy would be more challenging to work with). Nothing stretchy or bulky would be suitable.

Contact us before the course if your hip measurement is larger than 132cm so we can ensure there is a pattern block made in your size and so we can advise how much fabric to bring.
Our sponsors, Janome, supply computerised sewing machines (230DC) and where required overlockers (6234XL). Unfortunately, it is not possible to bring in your own machines.
Tea and coffee will be available at the workshop and there will be a break to eat, so please bring along some lunch or you can pop out to a local deli.
