If you have never used a sewing machine before (or if you haven’t used one for a while), then this is the workshop for you!
We have devised a whole day of sewing (with all the materials and trims provided), designed to give you all the skills you need to begin or progress your journey into the wonderful world of sewing.
Start by learning the basics, including how to thread a machine, fill a bobbin and sew a variety of stitches, useful for dressmaking and everyday projects. Then learn how to use the seam guides and the reverse function and pivot to sew curves and corners.
You’ll then use these skills to sew a handy tote bag. We’ll take you through how to sew seams, a hem and straps then how to create a base and sides to your bag.
With this under your belt you’ll be ready to take on a zip. The final make of the day will be a lovely lined make-up bag, complete with zip, you can slip it in your tote bag and leave with two gorgeous makes and a new sewing addiction!
This workshop is suitable for complete beginners or for those looking to refresh their skills.
Based at Bamber Sewing Machines, Ministry of Craft customers get 10% discount on the wide range of fabrics, haberdashery and sewing patterns and there are various discounts available on their sewing machines and overlockers.
