Imagine creating a versatile tiered dress that effortlessly transitions from day to night, pair it with elegant heels for a chic evening look or style with classic trainers for a casual, everyday vibe. You get to choose! Join Alison Leese, skilled seamstress and owner of Ministry of Craft, for this one-day dressmaking workshop.
Using a fabric of your choice (see ‘What to Bring’), master essential dressmaking techniques as well as using one of our Janome overlockers for a professional finish to raw edges.
This dress is designed for ease and comfort, featuring raglan sleeves that make it a breeze to slip on. The gathers add a touch of sophistication, while the cleverly hidden channel allows you to adjust the neckline with a tie, giving you the perfect fit every time. You can customise the length to your liking with one or two gathered tiers of varying lengths and choose between short or long sleeves.
To gift this workshop, select ‘Purchase as a Workshop Gift Voucher’ from the below menu and you will receive a PDF voucher by email for your recipient to attend on any available date. Alternatively purchase a Gift Voucher for any value to use on any workshop and date.

As this is not a beginner’s workshop, you must already have some experience on a sewing machine or have attended one of our Beginner sewing workshops.
You will need the following materials for your garment (all the equipment will be provided). For a more structured everyday shape examples are woven poplin, linen or chambray or go for a lighter woven cotton voile, lawn or rayon for a swishier look (anything too slippy would be more challenging to work with). Nothing stretchy or bulky would be suitable:
Tea and coffee will be available at the workshop and you are welcome to bring along your own refreshments. There will be a break to eat, so please bring along some lunch or you can pop out to a local shop.
Our sponsors, Janome, supply computerised sewing machines (5060 QDC) and where required overlockers (6234XL). Unfortunately, it is not possible to bring along your own machines.
