You will need the following materials for your garment (all the equipment will be provided). A lighter woven cotton like a voile, lawn or rayon will be ideal to create a swishier look with soft gathers around the neck (anything too slippy would be more challenging to work with). A light to medium weight woven fabric like a poplin, linen or chambray would create a slightly more structured look with less swish and slightly stiffer gathers. Nothing stretchy or bulky would be suitable:
- 2.5m of 115cm wide fabric or 2m of 150cm wide fabric for a top.
- 3m of 115cm wide fabric or 2.5m of 150cm wide fabric for a knee-length dress.
- 4.5m of 115cm wide fabric or 3.5m of 150cm wide fabric for a long dress.
- Matching thread.
Tea and coffee will be available at the workshop and you are welcome to bring along your own refreshments. There will be a break to eat, so please bring along some lunch or you can pop out to a local shop.
Our sponsors, Janome, supply computerised sewing machines (5060 QDC) and where required overlockers (6234XL). Unfortunately, it is not possible to bring along your own machines.
