What you need
I've made my own t-shirt yarn (see previous blog) or you can buy Wool and The Gang fabric yarn.
Use 10-12mm hook depending on thickness of yarn.
Abbreviations
DC double crochet
SS slip stitch
Instructions
Chain 4 or use a magic ring.
1st row work 2 DC into each stitch (total 8) SS to complete.
2nd row Work 2 DC into first stitch, 1 DC into second stitch and repeat (total 12).
Continue alternating 2 DC and 1DC for next few rows until you reach desired diameter of your basket. This will continue to grow as a flat circle.
Don't worry about working in rows you can just work in a spiral.
This basket I worked in this way to a diameter of approx. 25cm.
To start working up the sides of the basket, work 1 DC into each stitch from the previous row.
If you are creating strips it's best to SS at the end of each row, this will give more even rows.
I worked about 12 rows to a height of approx. 18cm.
Keep going and make a really big basket!
Crochet a couple of straight pieces of crochet and attach handles.
