Wardrobe staples have a special place in every girl’s heart, but what about making one for yourself. This fashion focused tunic dress, with a flattering boat neck, is the perfect everyday wear. Sew it in bold and bright or pretty and floral, the choice is yours (see 'Additional Information' for fabric quantity to bring) and what’s more it will be sewn in a day.
It’s the perfect project if you’re a wannabee dressmaker as you’ll learn how to use a pattern block and cut your fabric correctly. We’ll also guide you through heaps of dressmaking skills including hems, seams and bust darts.
Designed to be the perfect versatile wear, you can choose your own tunic length – either dress or top length and your length of sleeve. Finally get to grips with constructing your dress and inserting sleeves, as well as using one of our Janome overlockers for a professional finish.
We love this project and your wardrobe will too.
As this is not a beginner’s workshop, you must already have some experience on a sewing machine or have attended one of our Beginner sewing workshops.
Based at a Home Studio in Chorlton with a maximum class size of five, if you have any week-day availability to attend please get in touch to arrange a date (this workshop is also run at Bamber Sewing Machines in Eccles).
If the above date is not suitable or sold out and there are no alternative dates showing below, contact us with the workshop name, so we can let you know if a place becomes available or when the next date goes on sale.
If you would like to purchase this workshop as a gift, please contact us with the workshop name and date or go to our Gift a Workshop page.
You will need to bring the following to the workshop:
2m for a top and 2.5m for a dress of either 150cm or 115cm wide fabric, please avoid bulky, stretchy or slippery fabrics; light to medium weight woven cotton is ideal.
20cm of fusible interfacing.
Matching thread.
Contact us before the course if your bust circumference measures outside the range
84cm - 125cm so we can ensure there is a pattern block made in your size and so we can advise how much fabric to bring.
Our sponsors, Janome, supply computerised sewing machines (230DC) and where required overlockers (6234XL). Unfortunately, it is not possible to bring in your own machines.
Tea and coffee will be available at the workshop and there will be a break to eat, so please bring along some lunch or you can pop out to a local deli.
