QTY:

Super quick to make, a Kimono style jacket is a perfect garment for summer layering or a swish night out.

You’ll learn how to sew smooth seams and ripple-free hems and finish the raw edges of your jacket using self made bias binding.

What’s more you’ll get a truly professional finish while learning to use one of our Janome overlockers.

A light to medium weight woven cotton fabric such as lawn, is ideal for a good drape. If you want the challenge of a slippery fabric such as crepe, viscose or satin, please let us know as we may need to allocate more time (see 'Additional Information' for fabric quantity to bring).

As this is not a beginner’s workshop, you must already have some experience on a sewing machine or have attended one of our Beginner sewing workshops.

Based at a Home Studio in Chorlton with a maximum class size of five, if you have any week-day availability to attend please get in touch to arrange a date (this workshop is also run at Bamber Sewing Machines in Eccles).

If the above date is not suitable or sold out and there are no alternative dates showing below, contact us with the workshop name, so we can let you know if a place becomes available or when the next date goes on sale.

If you would like to purchase this workshop as a gift, please contact us with the workshop name and date or go to our Gift a Workshop page.

You will need to bring the following to the workshop:

2m of either 150cm or 115cm wide fabric, please note, the sleeve length may be slightly shorter on narrower width fabrics.

Matching sewing thread.

Contact us before the course if your hip measurement is larger than 132cm so we can ensure there is a pattern block made in your size and so we can advise how much fabric to bring.

This workshop is part of a Sew Social day, there may be a short wait if the tutor needs to demonstrate a technique required for a different garment. It is, however, a great opportunity to pick up additional skills and chat about what others are doing.

Our sponsors, Janome, supply computerised sewing machines (230DC) and where required overlockers (6234XL). Unfortunately, it is not possible to bring in your own machines.

Tea and coffee will be available at the workshop and there will be a break to eat, so please bring along some lunch or you can pop out to a local deli.
