Holy pins and needles, Batman! Become your own sewing superhero and overcome the fear of working with that troublesome stretchy fabric. We'll give you tips and tricks for working with knitted fabrics (such as jersey, cotton knit or ponte roma).
You’ll construct a top, in your own choice of fabric (see 'Additional Information') with the sleeve and body cut as one, so no tricky set in sleeves to worry about. You’ll finish the top by adding cuff and hem panels.
You’ll conquer the complicated-looking but super useful
overlocker. This is a brilliant workshop to progress on to if you have
already attended our
Overlocking for Beginners workshop, and you’re raring to test out your newfound skills.

As this is not a beginner’s workshop, you must already have some experience on a sewing machine or have attended one of our Beginner sewing workshops.
Based at a Home Studio in Chorlton with a maximum class size of five, if you have any week-day availability to attend please get in touch to arrange a date (this workshop is also run at Bamber Sewing Machines in Eccles).

You will need to bring the following to the workshop:
2m of 150cm wide medium-weight moderate stretch / knit fabric like jersey, cotton knit, ponte roma.
Matching sewing thread.
This workshop is part of a Sew Social day, there may be a short wait if the tutor needs to demonstrate a technique required for a different garment. It is, however, a great opportunity to pick up additional skills and chat about what others are doing.
Our sponsors, Janome, supply computerised sewing machines (230DC) and where required overlockers (6234XL). Unfortunately, it is not possible to bring in your own machines.
Tea and coffee will be available at the workshop and there will be a break to eat, so please bring along some lunch or you can pop out to a local deli.
