Choose from one of the styles below or from our Dressmaking category in your own choice of fabric (see 'Additional Information' for fabric requirements) and master essential dressmaking techniques as well as using one of our Janome overlockers for a professional finish to raw edges.
Sew a Gorgeous Girl's Dress
Make a little girls day with a gorgeous A- line dress! You’ll learn how to cut out your own choice of fabric, then we will guide you through seams, hems and facings. You’ll learn how to sew perfect buttonholes and attach buttons on the sewing machine.
Sew your own Lounge Pants or Pyjama Trousers
Perfect for lounging or sleeping! You’ll learn how to cut out your own choice of fabric, construct your garment and use an overlocker. On finishing the course you’ll be able to sew and overlock seams, finish a hem and create a casing for elastic, all skills you can use over and over again!
Sew your own Top with Raglan Sleeves
Designed to be the perfect versatile wear, this raglan sleeve style top, with a flattering boat neck, is the perfect everyday wear. You’ll learn how to cut out your own choice of fabric then we’ll guide you through heaps of dressmaking skills including hems, seams, raglan sleeves and bust darts.
Sew you own Wrap-Around Skirt
If you are looking to take your sewing confidence to the next level, why not try this stylish wrap around skirt? Cut out your own choice of fabric then we will guide you through seams, hems and waistbands and you’ll learn how to sew a perfect buttonhole and attach a button on the sewing machine.
We love these projects, and your wardrobe will too.
As this is not a beginner’s workshop, you must already have some experience on a sewing machine or have attended one of our Beginner sewing workshops.
Based at a Home Studio in Chorlton with a maximum class size of five, if you have any week-day availability to attend please get in touch to arrange a date (this workshop is also run at Bamber Sewing Machines in Eccles).

You will need the following materials for your selected garment, please avoid bulky, stretchy or slippery fabrics; light to medium weight woven cotton is ideal.
Sew a Gorgeous Girl's Dress
70cm of fabric for the dress and 30cm of fabric for the facing (this can be the same as the dress fabric or a contrast in a similar or lighter weight fabric),
Sewing thread to match the main fabric.
Two 1.5-2cm buttons.
20cm of fusible interfacing.
Sew your own Lounge Pants or Pyjama Trousers
2m of 150cm wide fabric or 2.4m of 115cm wide fabric.
1m of 38mm wide elastic
2m of ribbon (any width up to about 2.5cm)
Matching sewing thread.
Sew your own Top with Raglan Sleeves
2m for a top of either 150cm or 115cm wide fabric.
Matching sewing thread.
20cm of fusible interfacing.
Sew you own Wrap-Around Skirt
1.5m of 150cm wide fabric or 2m of 115cm wide fabric (this is based on a skirt length of 60cm, bring more fabric for a longer length).
Matching sewing thread.
One button (maximum size 3cm).
Contact us before the course if your hip measurement is larger than 132cm so we can ensure there is a pattern block made in your size and so we can advise how much fabric to bring.
Our sponsors, Janome, supply computerised sewing machines (230DC) and where required overlockers (6234XL). Unfortunately, it is not possible to bring in your own machines.
Tea and coffee will be available at the workshop and there will be a break to eat, so please bring along some lunch or you can pop out to a local deli.
