If you want a bespoke look when it comes to lighting up your room, but can’t find the right lampshade, why not make it yourself?
Using a fabric of your choice (see 'Additional Information') start by developing the basic skills of shade making, including how to work with specialist materials, the techniques behind constructing your shade and how to adapt this to different sizes.
With guidance from our expert tutor Sam Sterken complete a lampshade, (30cm diameter) which can be used as a pendant or table lampshade and take home enough hints and tips to make a shade for every room guaranteed to literally dazzle your friends!
This workshop is suitable for beginners or for those looking to refresh their skills.
You will need a pre-cut piece of pressed fabric
measuring 110cm by 40cm (can be bought on the day from Bamber Sewing Machines if you don't manage to buy before hand). Ideal fabrics would be light to medium weight
woven cotton. Sheer, bulky, stretchy
or slippery fabrics are not suitable for this project.
All other materials and equipment are supplied for this workshop and are included in the price.
Please bring a bag to take your lampshade home in.
