What on earth is free machine embroidery you ask? Well it’s time to get creative rather than functional with a sewing machine and use your needle to draw.
We’ll teach you how to use an embroidery foot and hoop to 'draw' with stitches on your sewing machine and create embroidered works of art. Then decorate a calico bag and transfer your design with the help of textile artist Michelle Barnard.
Delve into our enormous stash of fabrics and using the art of appliqué, sew layers of fabric to form a design and add texture.
Add your own creative flair by using contrasting coloured threads, making a truly personal piece of work!
Once you’re confident you can use this fun and relaxed way of sewing to breathe new life into anything from tops to tea towels.
This workshop is suitable for complete beginners or for those looking to refresh their skills.
Based at Bamber Sewing Machines, Ministry of Craft customers get 10% discount on the wide range of fabrics, haberdashery and sewing patterns and there are various discounts available on their sewing machines and overlockers.

You are welcome to bring along a simple image to trace or fabric scraps to incorporate into your design.
Our sponsors, Janome, supply computerised sewing machines (230DC) and where required overlockers (6234XL). Unfortunately, it is not possible to bring in your own machines.
Tea and coffee will be available at the workshop and there will be a break to eat, so please bring along some lunch or you can pop out to Asda located opposite.
