MINISTRY MAKES - January 2019

What have you all been sewing lately? Here's a little update on my sewing adventures!

Nothing very glamorous this week I am afraid, it was a very practical make!

The nights are cold and I love to be cosy in bed. Unable to find a pair of pyjamas in the shops with the neck, cuff and ankle finish I was looking for, I decided to make my own.

I used my bodice block and trouser block to make the pattern and a lovely soft cotton printed jersey fabric from our online shop.

For the bottoms pattern, I adapted the block by straightening the legs to add a bit of width and dropped the crutch slightly. For the top block, I made the neckline a bit higher and narrower and extended the body length……making sure no skin was exposed!

Everything was put together on the overlocker so it was super quick and easy and the smaller seam allowance along with the stretch of the jersey gave me just the fit I was looking for.

The neck, waist, sleeves and ankles were finished off with a folded band of fabric stretched onto the opening so no need for hems or elasticated casings. This snug (but comfortable) finish prevented them rising up my back and my legs for that perfect cosy nights sleep.

I promise some more glamorous nightwear for the warmer months!
