MINISTRYMAKES - JUNE 17

What have you all been sewing lately? Here's a little update on my sewing adventures!

Yet another twist on our twist tunic dress! I wanted to make a tunic style denim dress to layer over a tee and tights for the winter. The denim I used was the one from our online shop from Jane Makower, it has a lovely soft feel and worked well, although I can tell it is going to crease during wear.

I dropped the sleeves and bound the armholes and added a separate section to the bottom. The seam across the bottom allowed me to add some slanted pockets and an inverted pleat (at the back as well).

If you want to learn more about how to sew pockets and pleats, we have just introduced a new Introduction to Dressmaking course in Chorlton which covers them and we will hopefully be extending it to Fred Aldous in the new year too.

We would love to see what you have been sewing, so send us your pictures. We have a six-month subscription to Love Sewing Magazine to giveaway each month and it could be yours!
