Stylish, flattering and surprisingly easy to wear, palazzo pants are a wardrobe winner! Make yours in a bold leopard print or classic black for something effortlessly chic. Join Alison Leese, expert seamstress and owner of Ministry of Craft, for a fun-filled one-day dressmaking workshop.
Cotton or linen is a great choice if you’re newer to dressmaking, as it’s more stable and easier to handle. For a softer, more fluid look, choose viscose – it has beautiful drape and movement, although it is a little more slippery to work with.
Using a fabric of your choice (see ‘What to Bring’), you’ll master essential dressmaking techniques, as well as using one of our Janome overlockers for a professional finish to raw edges.
In this workshop, you’ll learn how to create a casing for an elasticated waistband, insert pockets into the side seams, make buttonholes, sew and finish seams, and hem your trousers. Side-seam pockets are a particularly useful skill to add to your sewing toolkit – once you know how to make them, you’ll be adding pockets to all sorts of future projects!
You’ll leave with a fabulous pair of palazzo pants, a whole host of useful dressmaking skills and the confidence to put them to use in your future sewing projects.
This workshop is available to book at both Bamber Sewing Machines and Chorlton Home Studio (see below options for dates and venues).
