Using commercial patterns can seem like a big step once you’ve mastered the basics of a sewing machine, but make it easy with the help of this course and our seasoned professional, Alison Leese. Over the four sessions learn everything from how to use and read a pattern to fabric cutting, putting your garment together and achieving a perfect finish.
On finishing the course you’ll be able to use a pattern confidently, sew a buttonhole, put in a zip and use an overlocker (a sewing machine that cuts the fabric while finishing the edges!) as well as having a ready to wear A-line skirt.
To get the best from this course you’ll need to be able to thread a machine and bobbin and sew a straight and zig-zag stitch or have taken one of our basic sewing skills courses Beginners sewing: Candy striped make up bag, Basic sewing machine skills and alterations or Beginners Sewing: Zip and buttonhole cushions
