It will be all change for us in January with FOUR new venues for our workshops! We are spreading our wings across Manchester, with TWO new city centre venues, Manchester Craft and Design Centre and The Art Space at Cass Art; teaming up with Bamber Sewing Machines in Eccles (just off M60) and holding evening sessions at the Craft Café Chorlton. Read on………

    Manchester Craft and Design Centre

An oasis of calm in the city, we are thrilled to be holding workshops at the Manchester Craft and Design Centre in the New Year. Contributing to Manchester’s cultural map, the former Victorian fish market is situated at the heart of Manchester’s creative Northern Quarter. Two floors of contemporary craft studios, still complete with many of its original and quirky fixtures and fittings, houses some of the region’s most talented artists, designers and makers, where you can see them at work creating textiles, jewellery, ceramics, prints, fine art, sculpture and more.

Our classroom in Studio One is conveniently situated right next to The Oak St Café Bar, serving delicious homemade fayre with 10% off for Ministry of Craft attendees. A destination in its own right, bursting with delicious, home cooked food, all made from local and responsibly sourced produce.

The Manchester Craft and Design Centre also hosts an exciting and varied exhibitions programme, showcasing the very best of contemporary craft and design, their events programme gives you the opportunity to learn craft skills from resident artists and exhibitors.

    Bamber Sewing Machines

Specialists with decades of knowledge, their showroom displays sewing machines and overlockers galore to test-drive, with discount for Ministry of Craft customers (and they sell the full Janome range and model we teach on). Don’t forget you can also book your own machine in for a service or repair.

Our new classroom is situated right next to their heavenly haberdashery department, delivering all of your sewing needs, be it thread, sewing tools, patterns or zips AND they have a fabulous fabric range. With 10% off when attending a workshop, why wouldn’t you spoil yourself?

Based near the Trafford Centre, just off the M60, in Eccles and there’s a customer car park round the back!

    Craft Cafe Chorlton

We are holding our week night courses at the Craft Cafe in Chorlton. A fantastic welcoming and creative space for you to come and create your own masterpiece.

About 3 miles south of Manchester City Centre, The Craft Café is easy to get to with a tram stop 2 minutes walk away and a bus stop and free parking right outside.

With Leons fabrics just down the road, stocking bolt after bolt of silk, linen, velvet, lawn, tweed, it is worth arriving early to inspire (and perhaps even purchase) and to have a wander down Beech Road awash with independent boutiques, restaurants and delis.

With locally sourced and freshly prepared food and drink, you can grab yourself a bite to eat at the Craft Café before the class starts......they even feature a few cheeky craft beers and wines!

Will you still be holding classes at Fred Aldous in the new year? Hi Sue, Just the venues mentioned above, Cass Art and Manchester Craft and Design Centre are just round the corner though, Alison
