Fiona has put her own twist on the make-up bag we teach on our Introduction to Sewing course, she has a natural flair for sewing and tells her story below.

I've had my sewing machine since I was 16 but only used it for small jobs here and there. I used to watch my grandma sew when I was really young and she made lots of clothes for my sister and I, but I was too young to learn properly from her. Last year I decided to take the Conquer Your Sewing Machine course and I was totally hooked, I've taken two more courses since then with the Ministry of Craft and have used my machine more in the past 12 months than the past 14 years! I adapted the makeup bag pattern from the Beginner's course to make a knitting bag for my mum, and I've made a few other makeup bags as gifts with variations on the same pattern. I'm now saving up to buy an overlocker (and saving a little more to kit out my own sewing room, eventually!).

A six-month subscription to Love Sewing Magazine is on the way to Fiona and well done for being our MinistryMakes Winner!
