A slick knitter of the basics, but not sure where to go next? Learn to knit a tea cosy has been designed to take you from simple scarves and hats to the next level in knitting.

With tuition from Rachel Elwell of Artyarn, you’ll learn how to manipulate a basic knit stitch to create this fluted tea cosy, which is both fantastic and functional! Over the three sessions, we’ll take you through how to follow a more complex pattern - focusing on knitting up the front and back of the cosy to create different styles of stitching. Alongside this you’ll get to grips with knitting with two strands of colour and a precision sewing-up technique.

To finish on a creative high, learn the skills needed to knit up a quick pretty flower to sit on the top! Anyone for a cuppa?

Make and Take: Gorgeous fluted tea cosy in your own choice of colours (approximate sizes 16 cm high by 27 cm at the widest point) and your needles!

Skills at a glance: Learn how to follow an intermediate knitter’s pattern, knit with two strands to create a manipulated knit stitch, how to decrease and precision sewing up techniques.

Tutors: Rachael Elwell

Need to know: Please note that students will need to work at home between sessions, to complete the tea cosy. To get the most from this course you must be able to confidently knit and purl. We supply knitting and sewing needles for this course. Students will need to supply their own wool - 2 x 100 gram balls of Double knit wool, in two different colours. .
