Find out how to take great creative and technical photos and get the best use from your digital camera and develop your photography skills.
Covering a wide range of subjects, from the art of photography through to creative control, composition & use of light, this course will give you the technical knowledge and confidence to use your camera to its full potential.
During the first evening you will be introduced to the technical aspects of photography and be shown how to use shutter speed, aperture, white balance and ISO to achieve the right exposures for your photographs. The second evening will focus on the creative side of photography, with practical tasks that will help you explore different ways of composing and ‘manipulating’ your shots before you press the shutter. During the final evening you’ll explore the different ways in which we use photography in our lives (travel, portraits, landscapes etc) and look at file storage and image manipulation.
All of this and more will ensure you see immediate results in your every day photography and improve your confidence.
Skills at a glance: Functions and features of a digital camera, basic composition & lighting control, getting the best from your subject and creating great shots.
Tutor: Rik Sterken
Need to know: Bring along the digital camera (either compact or DSLR) you want to learn with. This course is suitable for both beginners and those who have more experience in photography but want to make more use of their camera.
